Scholarships

At the Edwards & Muzquiz Health Foundation (EMHF), we believe that education is essential to building a better future. Our vision – to heighten awareness and respect for those who serve, medically under-served and under-resourced communities, extends to the next generation of public health and emergency management professionals.

That’s why EMHF offers scholarships to individuals whose academic and professional goals are aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to serving vulnerable populations. We recognize that many aspiring changemakers face significant financial barriers to higher education, and our goal is to help break down those barriers by providing meaningful financial support.

EMHF proudly honors and supports advanced education for future generations of emergency management professionals and first responders. These individuals are the backbone of community resilience, and their training, leadership, and service are essential to protecting lives and strengthening systems in times of crisis. By investing in their education, EMHF is investing in the safety, health, and sustainability of communities across the nation.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A 500-word essay outlining their commitment to serving medically under-served and under-resourced communities, and how EMHF’s mission aligns with their career goals
  • An official academic transcript
  • Three professional letters of recommendation

EMHF scholarships may support undergraduate or graduate studies in public health, emergency management, or related fields. We also encourage applicants with lived experience in under-resourced communities to apply, as their perspectives are vital to shaping inclusive and effective solutions.
